Managed to see top gun last night for the 1st time never managed to see them due to one thing or another, had a great night for me the keyboard player was outstanding what a player he is great sound as well, im not usually a great fan of keyboards as i tend to find that most bands i hav seen on the pub circuit hav that cluby sound to them not this guy he was bloody good as were rest of band

PHIL (Rock of The North) 30-05-10

Hi all just want to say how amazing top gun were last night at the keys. never seen them before and was told they were very good. But WOW. every song amazing fantastic muscicians (especially the guitarist) and must say the first band to ever get me on a table dancing.

JAMES(MELVIN) (Rock of The North) 30-05-10

Morning Cap'n, Sorry for the late post ill take detention later for it but due to an aceptional evening ill hope you understand lol,The Top Gun juggernaut rolled into town this Saturday evening & delivered a master class of rock classics to a Cross Keys that was nearly to capacity when the bands first set commenced, a lot of regular movers & shakers were caught short by the early start yourself included but what they missed was soon forgotten as the Keys saw a performance by a band @ the top of it game & will go down in Cross Keys folklore. With the usual classics from Bon Jovi /Thin Lizzy David Bowie & countless others the crowed were held in awe with Top Guns first set but by the second the movers & shakers let rip & in true Keys style the tables & floor were creaking under the strain. After the end of the gig i received nothing but praise about this outstanding band as one punter told me excuse the french ! that was the dogs bo* *llocks of a gig. There cant be many people out there in music land you to see Top Gun if they havent they must make the time to see this outstanding band which @ the end of the evening left me with one thought in my head ! FANTASTIC !

Morning Steve im just back from Smithywood where Topgun were performing with me old mate Fez on Keys what an addition to an already Fantastic Band as ive said before one of the best out there, and the TONE from Rich,s guitar was superb....totally jealous of that sound, incredible a great evening spent in the company of the Gunners with my friend JimJam and Mr Dodds. Highlight for me UFO's Only You Can Rock me.

STEVE PICKLES (Rock of The North) 25-04-10

I have never been able to understand why FEZ has never been snapped up by one of the top bands since he moved down here from the north east, but now it seems he has.First time i saw him play was when he was with Ally Pally.he was great then but with TOP GUN hes better he seems to have got is youthful energy back.TOP GUN were fantastic last night, best ive seen them in a long while and i think if FEZ is going to be with them in the long term they will remain the regions top club/pub band for some time to come.

NUFC (Dianes Guestbook) 27-03-10

Great debut for Fez with TG, he gives them a new dynamic and has a great presence behind the boards. It was good to see Angie and Paul bouncing off him aswell during the night. I love the air guitar moves whenever he isn’t playing something during a song also, nice one Fez.

This Friday evening has been a long time coming in the recent history of the Cross Keys since becoming one of the area's premier rock venue's when one of the regions’ hierocracy of top bands Top gun made their debut appearance.Has before when reviews of Top gun have reached the various comments page's & web sites the local movers & shakers were treated to a superb night of rock classic & ballad numbers delivered with such quality & stage presence which has left the Keys with one of its most treasured gig memories. The band were simply fantastic the repertoire is wide & ranging from Bowie to Pink Floyd, Mott the Hoople to UFO , Led Zeppelin & countless other to many to mention. Toward the end of the covered a couple of Bon Jovi songs one being the epic Bed of Roses & there now legendary Bat out of Hell, supported & backed with an impressive P.A. with the help from Phil of Showtech fame. I’ve seen TOPGUN on many occasion but you can’t beat the atmosphere of seeing this class act on your own turf I’ve said it & preached to countless of music lovers & will go on repeating it TOPGUN ! Top BAND!.

Just got to agree with Kriss about Top Gun @ Klondyke on Saturday. Absolutely first class gig. I've seen them 3 times in just over a month now, and theres a good reason - they just keep getting better and better and are steaming to the top of the premiership league of bands. Superb setlist, very well delivered by quality musicians, and a great sound and overall gig experience. What a band. I know a lot of people dislike the song but ive never known anything like what happened during 'Don't Stop Believing'... A packed club ALL descended to the dancefloor in the opening keyboard intro. I've never seen anything like it, there must've been about 50 people all rush down to the front. I knew the song was a favourite in Barnsley and ive certainly seen a lot of club gigs which have got everyone on their feet for it, but i'd never seen anything like that before. It was as if the whole of Barnsley suddenly ran to the front of the Klondyke! Looking forward to seeing them again soon.

CARL (Rock of The North) 08-02-10

Good morning all. Top Gun were fantastic on Saturday night at the Klondyke. The place was packed with a very appreciative audience who demanded 2 Encores and even tried for a third after the stroke of midnight! Don't think i've ever seen the dancefloor as full when they belted out their version of what I call "that damn Journey song!" lol.

KRISS (Rock of The North) 08-01-10

Next on the agenda for the weekend was packing all the gear down sunday morning after not much sleep, home, shower and off to see another friend's band, Top Gun. I have known Rich for a little while now but never had chance to see the band and, well, where do I start??? Absolutely awesome!!! Incredible rhythm section, atmospheric keys, glorious weeping guitar lines and out of this world vocals with Phil from Showtec on the faders making this great band sound amazing (even tho he was battling the stupid f***ing noise limiter). Sometimes praise for bands can be given a little too quick in the name of support but, let me be the first to say, Top Gun ARE without doubt or second guessing one of the BEST bands on the circuit today!!! Top folk, top sound, top songs, top showmanship - ladies and gentlemen please put your hands together for...TOP GUN!!! Cheers, Aarren.

AARREN (Rock of The North) 25-01-10

saturday went down to my fave venue snafu to see Top Gun do an outstanding set. what a band they are, they seem to get better and better all the time (and were great anyway in the first place!) some quality musicianship going on there. ive said it plenty of times before but their Life on Mars by bowie is better than the original for me. the snafu crowd lapped it up. it was an unexpected surprise that they invited me up to play sweet child with them too but i loved it as ever! (even though i was bladdered by this point!).

CARL (Diane's Guestbook) 18-01-10

SNAFU+TOPGUN=BLOODY FANTASTIC NIGHT.

DAVE (Facebook) 17-01-10

The gig on Boxing Day at Belhouse Club was absolutely amazing, you go from strength to strength, you never cease to amaze, well done to you all and wishing you all the very best in 2010 xxx

TRACY AUCOTT (Facebook) 01-01-10

Top Gun were awesome at bellhouse last night, it was a great way to spend mi 20th birthday. Phil of Showtech gave them a great sound too and the band were on form. Id never listened to much Bowie before seeing Top Gun but they got me into Life on Mars etc and ive ended up loving their version more than the originals! They seem to put so much power into it that wasnt there for me originally. Great setlist and delivered first class. It was a pleasure to watch Rich nail my favourite solos - the first one in Comfortably Numb and the worlds most over played rock song - Sweet Child o Mine (ok its the worlds most over played rock song but its surprising how few people play this properly when you watch closely! Rich made an absolute blinder of it!).

CARL (Rock Of The North website) 27-12-09

Just the one word to describe Topgun at a rammed Broadfield last night and that is ’epic’. From the opening song of Jump through to the likes of Life on Mars and the frankly brilliant Wont Get Fooled Again, the punters were like putty in the bands hands and they finally brought the house down with Don’t Stop Believing at around midnight.

DAZ (Diane's guestbook) 04-12-09

Topgun on friday night produced yet another awesome gig. The sound was spot on as usual, the band were in great form, and the set list was superb. Tunes from Bowie and Mott The Hoople were outstanding, loved ’Highway Star’, and of course the classic ’Stairway To Heaven’. Keep it live and keep it rockin guys, Can’t wait for the next time.

STEVE & SUE (Bellhouse Guestbook) 19-10-09

Reports from the Klondyke last night ... MEGGA !! TOPGUN tore the club down. Phil youre a star ! sound bang on, Rich lighting nice one looked ace and all TopGunners Ang, Rich Damo, Lee and not forgetting Paul absolutely fantastic , that was the best performance I've seen in the Klondyke for a long time And two more booking at the club for 2010 Think that says it all !!

GRAVEDIGGER BRI (Rock of The North) 27-09-09

Once again Topgun rocked Bellhouse. Another top performance, great sound, classic tunes, loved the Bowie and Mott the Hoople, superb UFO, and the amazing Stairway to Heaven, and the highlight had to be The Monkees!! Keep it live, keep it rockin’, keep it Topgun, thanks guys for a great night.

STEVE & SUE (Bellhouse Guestbook) 08-06-09

last night something special happened, i went and had a look at Top Gun, yes i know everyone raves about them, but i saw them a while ago and thought 'hhmm nothing special there, move on' so i havent made an effort to see them really since that time, well last night in the lion they totally blew me and mrs on site away, what a band, each musician was top class but for me a special mention has to go to the singist, what a voice. The whole thing sounded absolutely amazing, and what started as going out for an hour cos we was bored turned in to 4 hours To the band, thanx for a brill night, you was amazing

This band come to Castleford, but it's like an Royal Albert Hall performance every time they play a Lionfest. Tonight's performance was what legends are made from. The band were simply fantastic. The repertoire is wide ranging, Bowie to Pink Floyd, and Mott the Hoople to UFO. Their UFO wasn't a common or garden Doctor Doctor, oh no not this band. ....this band played a truly superb Love to Love. I was mouthing the words and marvelling at how well it was being performed, fabulous quality in a West Yorkshire pub! Towards the end of the set the band played Bat Out of Hell, then two great Bon Jovi songs, Bed of Roses being a total epic! Ok I've said it before and now I'm saying it again , TOP GUN...TOP BAND !

STEVE LALLY (Rock of The North) 11-05-09

Top Gun were brilliant at Bellhouse last night. All crackin' musicians, really good sound, great setlist with some nice surprises in there and something a bit different from the standards. I love Pauls voice and really think he's up there with clubland's best singers

CARL (Rock of The North) 04-05-09

Diane - I totally agree, you can’t go wrong in going to a TOP GUN gig. They are an excellent Band, and nice people

They are at the Travsfest, in June, where you can see’em outdoors, as well

ARFUR OF ELMSALL (Diane's Guestbook) 04-05-09

Well. I have thoroughly enjoyed TopGun tonight at Bellhouse. I love the funkier sound of the first set. I’ve never, ever heard anyone else play Always, aside from Bon Jovi, no-one else will attempt it. Well sung that man. And thank you - thank you - for Comfortably Numb. Great sound again too, and nice to see bums on seats.

DIANE (Diane's Guestbook) 03-05-09

Just seen Top Gun at t'Tap...Wow. What more can I say? :)

RUSS (Rock of The North) 25-04-09

To finish the evening's entertainment the South Yorks legends of classic rock, Top Gun took to the superb looking stage. With smoke swirling under the myriad of coloured lights, the band put on a show to remember for the massed throng of revellers. The lights, sound and performance were of a professional quality without a doubt. I must thank the band for performing UFO's Love to Love, and what a truly nice rendition they did and especially for me and I thank you most kindly. It's a fabulous song which fit in well with the likes of Stairway to Heaven, 'Numb, Wishing Well, Radar Love, and a brilliant version of Gary Moore's Empty Rooms. I like this band as they added the likes of Mott the Hoople and David Bowie, and Faith No More into the set! Top Gun...Top band!

STEVE LALLY (Rock of The North) 12-04-09

Had a rair sat night off and went to see my friend Angie from TOP GUN playing over in Queensbury last night..Not seen these guys and was well impressed..They had the sound just right and all the guys could play. The pub was full and even though there was what seemed to be a few audience members on a day out from planet zorg(angie will know what i mean!!!!)they all loved the band..Must try and get out more when not playing as i recommend to all other musicians as it makes you realise that there is alot of good talent out in our great hobby

NELLY (Rock of The North) 29-03-09

Down at Bellhouse Road Club, Sheffield, the mighty Top Gun showed what they're made of, leaving a legacy of great rocking in the minds of the Bellhouse rock fans. Top band!

STEVE (Rock Of The North) 24-01-09

Normal service was resumed last night. Topgun were awesome, great sound, cracking musicians, and Paul really leads the band well with great vocals and a confident stage presence. Really enjoyed the set list, especially the first set, some tunes that others just don’t play, and a real special version of ’stairway to heaven’. Thanks to the band for a great night, and it was good to see the club well populated.

STEVE & SUE (Bellhouse Guestbook) 24-01-09
